League fixtures published

The league fixtures have been published for the start of the 2018 - 2019 season. There are some mid week games arranged at the request of some clubs.

Hi All,
Welcome to the new season.
Please find attached the fixtures for Sat 25th , Tues 28th and Wed 29th August, Sat 1st , Tues 4th and Wed 5th Sept 2018, the remaining fixtures for Sept will be issued ASAP.
Sorry these fixtures were not issued earlier but some problems with clubs registering with the LFA held up the finalising of the divisions.

The intention of the league committee was to run with a maximum of 12 teams only per division but because of the total number of teams in the league this was not possible. The total number of teams is 40, the committee agreed that the number of teams in the Premier Division should be 12 and this left us with 28. If we tried to run 3 Division this would mean two of the divisions would only have 9 teams and one have ten, as in past seasons when the numbers have been awkward we thought that if teams are paying for hiring their pitch for the season 8 home games plus any cup games is not satisfactory and therefore the committee agreed that we would have to run with a Premier Div of 12 (now 11) and Div 1 and 2 with 14.
The league had intended not to play any night matches at the beginning of the season but with some Clubs who have two teams, others with problems caused by cricket limiting the number of Saturdays available and other clubs who have in past seasons have struggled to get their home games played when the bad weather comes, have all registered concerns with fitting all their home games in with the 14 team divisions.
So to help these clubs get some home games played early in the season while the good weather is here we will be playing a minimum number of mid-week night games.
