The weekend's football action in the Mid Lancashire Football League was heavily impacted by adverse weather conditions, with all scheduled Premiership and Division Two fixtures succumbing to the dreadful weather. However, Division One and the Lancastrian Brigade Cup fixtures managed to defy the odds and proceed as planned, treating fans to an exciting display of local football talent.

In Division One, Burscough Dynamo asserted their dominance with a resounding 4-1 victory over Hoole United. Burscough showcased their attacking prowess with goals from Lewis Corke, Chris Orritt, Tom Watkins, and substitute Ryan Blackwell. Hoole United managed to salvage some pride with a goal from Ben Rooke, but it wasn't enough to thwart Burscough's commanding performance.

Meanwhile, Norcross FC and Ribchester Rovers engaged in a thrilling encounter that ended in a 3-3 draw. Norcross found the net through Jonny Airey, David Cartmell, and Jack Hayton, while Ribchester responded with goals from Max Bryden (twice) and Oliver Stirzaker. The match showcased the competitive spirit and skill level present in Division One, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

Standish St Wilfrid's secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Sir Tom Finney in another closely contested fixture. Standish's Ben Flynn was the hero of the match, netting both goals for his team. Despite the absence of scoring details for Sir Tom Finney, the match was undoubtedly a hard-fought battle, demonstrating the determination and resilience of both sides.

Turning to the Lancastrian Brigade Cup, Fleetwood Hesketh and Cherrybrook played out a tense 0-0 draw, ultimately decided by a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Both teams displayed immense determination and skill throughout the match, with neither able to break the deadlock. However, Fleetwood Hesketh emerged victorious in the shootout, with goalkeeper Ian Thompson making a crucial save and the team's penalty takers holding their nerve to secure a 5-4 win on penalties.

In the other Cup fixture, Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs Reserves emerged triumphant with a 3-0 victory over Astley FC. Despite a goalless first half, Southport & Ainsdale rallied in the second half, with substitute Sean Doran scoring twice and Captain Tom Wright adding another goal to seal the win. The victory showcased Southport & Ainsdale's resilience and determination, highlighting their potential as contenders in the Cup competition.
