Unpredictable Weather, Unstoppable Passion: This Week's Fixture Report

Highlight this week was the Division Two match between Gables and Shevington Reserves, reported by Alan Stuttard. Photos courtesy of James Harrington Photography:

Gables kept up the pressure at the top end of Division 2 in this narrow 2-1 victory over Shevington Reserves. Gables original game had fallen foul of the weather but quick action by manager, Criag Ronald in booking the new 3G facility at Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre enabled the game against new opponents to go ahead. As it turned out, it was a lovely sunny afternoon and both sides gave it their all in a competitive game.

Gables took an early lead but were pegged back when they conceded a penalty shortly before half time. Gables had a few changes to increase their lead but the Shevington goalkeeper was in good form and made a number of excellent saves. A fine strike from the edge of the area in the second half from Chris Hillman secured all 3 points for Gables and they maintained their early season form.

The game was played in a good spirit between the two sides and referee David Lilly allowed the game to flow to the benefit of both teams.
